The sampling theorem in the frequency domain

This signal will be sampled 128 times per second. The power spectrum contains activity exceeding half the sampling frequency.

Sampling without prior filtering results in aliasing

Example: An analog signal containing a characteristic spectral peak at 100 Hz.
