Ionic mechanisms underlie neuronal oscillations

IT : Low-threshold calcium current. Its activation depolarizes the membrane toward the threshold for a burst of Na+- and K+-dependent fast action potentials. IT is inactivated.

Ih : Hyperpolarization activated cation current.  Repolarization de-activates current. Hyperpolarization overshoot is due to reduced depolarizing effect of Ih

Hyperpolarization removes inactivation of IT and activates Ih which depolarizes the membrane towards the threshold of another calcium spike.
