Standing sleep in a giraffe

Three giraffes can be seen on this video. The animal to the right is sleeping in an upright posture. It stands still, its body sways slightly, and only the ears are in motion, but much less than when the animal is awake and active.

The animal in the middle goes into the typical REM sleep posture. Both animals wake up simultaneously.

Video speed is 8 x normal.
